What is a conflict check, and why do you need the other party's name?

A conflict check confirms the firm owes no professional duty to the person on the other side of your matter, or to anyone whose interests are adverse to yours. It is mandatory before representation in every jurisdiction. We need the opposing party's full legal name to run it. Until it clears, no attorney-client relationship exists, which is also why you should not send confidential details before we ask for them.

What is Drafts on Demand, and is it permitted in Colorado?

Accepted Answer

Drafts on Demand (sometimes called attorney ghostwriting or pleadings preparation) means an attorney prepares a document you file under your own name while representing yourself. Colorado expressly permits it, subject to the disclosure requirements in the rules of civil procedure and professional conduct. It suits matters where the written record does the heavy lifting and you are comfortable speaking for yourself at any hearing.

How is the Inclusive Unbundled Services different from Drafts on Demand?

With Drafts on Demand, you remain the only person who appears. We prepare documents behind the scenes. With the Inclusive Unbundled Services, the attorney formally enters the case for a defined task, such as a single hearing or one negotiation, and appears in that capacity. Both are written agreements with clearly bounded scope.

Is the Inclusive Unbundled Services a cheaper version of real representation?

No. It is a different engagement, not a lesser one. The work inside its scope is performed to exactly the same professional standard. What changes is how much of the matter the firm carries. For some cases the Inclusive Unbundled Services is genuinely the right answer; for others it would be a mistake, and we will say so.

How long does a Colorado family law case take?

An uncontested matter may resolve in a few months. A complex, contested case can run beyond a year. Colorado imposes a minimum ninety-one-day waiting period before a dissolution can be finalized, and the real timeline is usually driven by disclosure, contested parenting issues, and court calendars.

What are Rule 16.2 disclosures?

Colorado requires extensive mandatory financial disclosure in most family law cases under C.R.C.P. Rule 16.2: generally three years of tax returns, a sworn financial statement, and documentation of all assets and debts. It applies whether or not you have an attorney, and incomplete disclosure can reopen a decree later.

What is a Child and Family Investigator?

A CFI is a neutral professional appointed by the court to investigate and report on what arrangement serves a child's best interests. A CFI does not represent either parent. Once active, it is a role she cannot combine with representing a party in the same matter.

What if I cannot pay the full cost up front?

Accepted Answer

The firm works with third-party financing providers including Affirm, Klarna, PayPal Pay Later, and Flexxbuy, and offers direct payment arrangements that do not affect your credit score. Scaling the engagement itself (Drafts on Demand or the Inclusive Unbundled Services instead of full representation) is often the more meaningful lever, and we will raise it if it fits.
