Estimators

See the shape of the numbers before you call anyone.

Two of the first questions almost everyone has are what child support might look like and whether maintenance is in play. These estimators give you a working sense of both in about a minute. They are illustrations, not answers.

Family Law

How much support does your matter really need?

Most people are more optimistic about their case than the facts warrant. Answer honestly and this reads your matter realistically, and points you to the level of support that actually fits, not the cheapest one.

  • 1.Is the other party in agreement with you?

  • 2.Are children or parenting time involved?

  • 3.Any safety concerns, abuse, or protection orders?

  • 4.How complex are the finances (business, property, retirement, support)?

  • 5.How comfortable are you speaking for yourself in court?

Child support

Colorado child support estimator

Colorado uses an income shares model: the guideline starts from what the two incomes together would have supported in one household, then divides it by income and by how the overnights fall.

Your situation

$5,000/mo
$3,500/mo
2
104 with B, 261 with A

When each parent has at least 93 overnights, the guideline switches to its shared physical care calculation, which raises the base figure to reflect two households.

Shared physical care

Illustrative only, not legal advice and not a quote. A real order also turns on childcare, health insurance, extraordinary expenses, and imputed income, any of which can move this figure substantially.

Spousal maintenance

Colorado spousal maintenance estimator

Colorado publishes an advisory guideline for maintenance, both for the monthly amount and for how long it runs. Advisory is the operative word: the court weighs it, it is not bound by it.

Your situation

$7,000/mo
$3,000/mo
12 years

The guideline term table covers marriages from 3 to 20 years. Below three years the court works without it. Above twenty, maintenance may run for a term of years or indefinitely.

Guideline figure

$1,300

per month, paid by the higher earner.

Guideline term
5 years and 11 months
Share of the marriage
49%

Illustrative only, not legal advice and not a quote. The guideline is advisory: the court decides first whether maintenance is appropriate, then weighs need, ability to pay, and the property each spouse receives.

Parenting time

Parenting time calendar generator

Lay out a common parenting-time pattern on an actual calendar, then download it as a file you can import into Google, Apple, or Outlook calendar. This is an organizing tool, not a parenting plan: whatever your order or agreement says always controls.

This is a scheduling aid, not a legal document, and it does not reflect any specific court order or agreement. If a signed parenting plan or order exists, it controls, and this calendar should match it, not the other way around.
